Message from Superintendent Caleris: Have a Safe and Relaxing Spring Break! (2025)

Dear Hurricane Staff, Students, Parents and Families,

As we prepare to embark on a well-deserved break, I wanted to take a moment to share a spring message with our school community. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing support throughout this school year. The growth and achievement of our students would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of Brooklyn teachers, staff, and families. I also want to take the opportunity to wish you all a restful and enjoyable time with family and friends. Whether you're traveling or staying close to home, we hope this break brings relaxation and renewal.

School will be closed from Monday, March 31st to Friday, April 4th, with classes resuming on Monday, April 7, 2025.

Please take a moment to learn more about the latest news and upcoming events within our school community this spring.

  • BHS Main Gymnasium Renovation & Construction starts on Monday, May 19th. Renovations on the Main Gym are scheduled to be completed by January 2026.

  • Replacement of the Field Turf and Restoration of the Field Event areas at the Stadium are scheduled to begin this June. During this time, the Stadium Track will be closed to the community. These renovations should be completed by August.

  • Please be advised that the Brooklyn High School White Lot Main Gym Entrance (Door 13),  will be CLOSED from Monday, May 19, 2025, through Friday, September 26, 2025, due to scheduled renovations.

  • For cars entering off of Southwood Drive during arrival and dismissal times, please be aware that the Main Gymnasium Entrance in the White Lot will be CLOSED and not accessible for student or staff use. Parents using the White Lot for student drop-off/pick-up should use the White Lot (Door #14) Entrance during this time.

  • Parents that normally use the White Lot will also have the option to use the front entrance of Brooklyn High School during arrival and dismissal. Please be aware that the front entrance of the High School may encounter some additional wait times with the closure of the Main Gymnasium Entrance during the construction.

  • Construction on the new home of Brooklyn’s Preschool Program - Brooklyn’s Early Childhood/Family Resource Center (formerly the Brooklyn Branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library) - is ongoing and scheduled to be completed in early August/September.

  • Over spring break, the District’s Main Campus will have several trees removed and cleared to make room for the work required with future construction on our campus.

Wishing our entire Brooklyn school community a safe and relaxing spring break!

Best Wishes,
