We are excited to share great news for the upcoming school year! Beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, Brooklyn City Schools will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a federal program under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.

The National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, regulated by the USDA, provide students with a complete meal that includes the following component options:

  • Milk
  • Meat or meat alternate
  • Bread or grain
  • Fruit and/or vegetable

What does this mean for your family?

All students in grades K–12 will be eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch every school day at no cost to your household. No application or paperwork is required—just send your child to school ready to learn, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Please note:

  • Any outstanding balance on your student’s cafeteria account from a previous school year must still be paid.
  • Students in grades 7–12 may continue to purchase individual à la carte items from the cafeteria. Parents may continue to deposit money into their student’s account for these purchases.

Premade specialty salads will be served daily as an alternative to the main dish.
